German roaches, by contrast, do not live outdoors in Texas.

Workers are reddish brown and about 1/8 inch long, with no central mound; colonies sit under rocks, logs, debris and potted plants. Huge numbers gather inside electrical equipment, causing short circuits, and most baits do not attract them.

    Fire ants fly again in fall after rain, and new paper wasp queens and males are produced in late summer and fall. Norway rats breed heavily in spring and fall, while roof rat litters peak in winter and spring, so attics deserve a look for droppings and gnawed wiring.

Spring, Texas, a census-designated place inside Harris County, counted 62,559 residents in the 2020 census, spread over about 23.6 square miles at an elevation of 121 feet. It is not an incorporated city, and the name is used loosely for a wide area of northern Harris County and a smaller part of southern Montgomery County. A trading post opened on Spring Creek in 1838, and the railroad reached town in 1871.
