Precision Pest Control serves Oro Valley from the neighborhoods along Oracle Road up through Rancho Vistoso and the properties backing the Catalina foothills. The washes coming out of the Santa Catalinas run through this town like corridors, and homes near them see a different volume of activity than homes that are not.

Oro Valley sits where the Santa Catalina foothills meet the Cañada del Oro valley, and the drainages define the pest picture. Along Big Wash, Honey Bee Canyon and the Cañada del Oro itself we deal with bark scorpions, giant hairy scorpions, desert centipedes, tarantulas, pack rats and rattlesnakes moving the corridor. Javelina and coyote sightings are routine. On the residential side, add black widows in weep holes and valve boxes, subterranean termites, roof rats in mature landscaping and Africanized bee swarms in spring.
A desert wash is a wildlife highway and it does not need water in it to work as one. The drainages running out of the Catalinas through Oro Valley carry animal and insect traffic year round, and a storm turns that into a flood of displaced burrow dwellers heading for high ground. Properties backing a wash receive that traffic first and heaviest. We treat those homes on the wash-facing side as the priority, sealing and treating the boundary, and we increase service in the weeks after significant monsoon rather than holding to a flat calendar.
Away from the drainages, Oro Valley is fairly typical foothills work. Homes here tend to be stucco with tile roofs, block or view fence perimeters, and desert landscaping right up to the foundation, which puts scorpion harborage within a few feet of the house. Decorative granite and rip rap hold scorpions during the day, so treating that band matters more than treating turf. We verify scorpion accounts with a night black light sweep, which is the only method that tells you honestly whether the treatment did what it was supposed to.
